Monday, July 20th - Gold Beach to Columbia River Gorge, Oregon

Greetings,
We left Gold Beach, Oregon after leaving the Indian Creek Cafe & Campground. We had a good breakfast at the cafe and slept soundly at the nice CG where we stayed for two nights.
The MH is fueled and we are ready to take on the Columbia River Gorge later today after we drive some more on US101 along the Oregon coast. When we get to Bandon we will turn our sights northeast and say goodbye to the Pacific Ocean.

Here is today adventures pictured and defined as best as we can. Enjoy them as much as we have enjoyed seeing the sights and trying to capture the feelings with pictures.

Indian Creek Cafe where we loaded up with a great country breakfast. Can't find any Cracker Barrel restaurants out here.

The campground was very nice, shady and had all the amenities except a hot tub and pool. Oh well!

These rocks protruding out of the water seemed much bigger than the ones in California.

I took this picture just south of Port Orford, Oregon

Another one in the same location - this place is gorgeous!

Sharon & I said our goodbyes to the Pacific Ocean. 15 miles north of here we will be in Bandon, Oregon. This is where we will turn northeast and start our journey back to the east coast & home.
We have traveled 4720 miles at this point.

We love traveling through Oregon because of the diversity of the environments.

Sharon & I both admired the perfectly shape trees along the way.

Next comes the farm land. The countryside is alive with its own picturesque beauty.

Some of the roads are pretty narrow and some are worse than that. You have to get on these roads to see the beauty of our country.

More beautiful farm country.

Regardless of the mode of transportation just picture yourself traveling down this road.

Now back to reality.......rush hour in Portland. The red car in the emergency lane nearly took the rear end off the car in front of him. I know what he feels like, I did the same thing not 30 minutes before. I learned real fast to put a big gap in between you and the car in front.

Look at the background! That is Mount Hood, the highest point in Oregon standing majestically at 11239 feet.
We are not going that way!

We decided to drive the Columbia River Gorge across northern Oregon fortunately Interstate 84 is the road beside the river.

It doesn't get much better than this! The river must be at least two miles across.

The interstate had light traffic and was in good shape. The sights was exciting and the drive was relaxing.

The landscape continues to change as we get further east.

Now there isn't any grass or trees on the mountains.

Couldn't resist this picture. My thoughts is that with trying to find alternate energy sources, this may be Florida's future landscape. Ugh!

We arrived at our campsite for the night. Oasis RV Park, Umatilla, Oregon at 8:30. Cost $10 for full hookup.
When we leave tomorrow we plan to travel northeast through Washington on the Lewis & Clark trail US12 into Central Idaho and then on into Missoula, Montana.
Idaho is rich with biggggg mountains and they continue on into Montana. This should be fun.
Until then "Happy Trails"
