Tuesday, July 21st - Oregon, Washington, & Idaho

Hello folks,
We left the Oasis RV Park in Umatilla, Oregon and drove to Walla Walla, Washington. We saw the Walla Walla University whichs is a Seventh Day Adventist College.

We stopped in town and bought some fresh fruit and vegetables at a fruit stand and then continued our trip along US12 (Lewis & Clark trail)

Sharon & I started to discuss our planned route through Idaho and Montana. We decided that this route would involve too many big mountains. I quickly planned another route back into Oregon and then make a large loop down and around southern Idaho and then back north to bring us to northwestern Wyoming. This will add about 250 miles to the trip but will be more relaxing for Sharon, the MH, and of course, yours truly.

We turned the MH southeast and hooked up with Interstate 84 which took us to Nampa, Idaho on the border of Idaho/Wyoming where we decided to spend the night.

This was a lazy day on the road with stopping at 2 rest areas, taking a short nap, getting the MH washed, and still drove 335 miles.

Naturally, we took a lot of pictures and we will share some of them with you.

Oasis Campground in Umatilla, Oregon

Strange rock formation don't you think?

Welcome to Washington. We didn't stay long here!

This is a fun name to say really fast. I didn't mean for you to try it. Didn't you sound like a baby?

This city is known for its wineries and the home of the sweet onion.

The terrain changes fast in this area.

Washington wheat fields are every where.

Everybody is in the wheat business in this area.

Harvest time - Combine machine doing its job.

This machine picks up the wheat and then transfers the load to a waiting truck.

Welcome again to Oregon!

One of the scenes in Oregon along the way to Idaho.

Our road followed the valleys which kept us out of the mountains.

From the wheat fields to the barren mountains.

We noticed that most of the trains pulled double stacked containers on the railroad cars.

Also some of the big trucks pulled three (3) trailers!

Well we made it to Idaho. It was a long day with many breaks.

Here's a beautiful picture of the Snake River on the border of Idaho/Oregon.

At mile marker 38 we found a campground for $21. The campground was nice and it is late. No time for TV just computer time and sleep.
Tomorrow we will continue the loop in Idaho and should make Wyoming by late afternoon.
Good night and Happy Trails!
