Oklahoma to Albuquerque, NM

Wed Jul 1
Up early with a good night of rest we left the parking lot at Wal-mart and headed west. It was a cool 73 degrees and just great for the 6 hours of driving ahead.

This picture was taken in northwest Texas about 20 miles from the New Mexico state line.

Sharon was amazed at how fast the terrain changes as you can see between the pictures as we crossed into New Mexico.

Every chance that we got, we detoured to the Historic Route 66. This route ran from Chicago to Los Angeles. In Oklahoma City is where Interstate 40 starts to replace US66. However, in many of the towns and cities going west this road still exists and is named The Historic Route 66.

This picture is of the road that never ends. We must have driven 30 miles without a wiggle in that road as far as you could see.

But that was going to change. This is the mountain range that we drove through just before getting to Albuquerque. Sharon must have taken a 100 pictures. She was in another world. Look at this...Look at that... I loved the excitement and amazement that she was seeing for the first time. It will only get better as we continue our journey, too.

We arrived at our beautiful campground where we had made reservations for early this morning. "Enchantment RV Resort" Hot tub, swimming pool, on top of a hill in the desert, full hook ups and free WiFi. I think we will stay a couple of days and enjoy sitting still for a while. (haha)

Happy Trails
